We first flew from Johannesburg, South Africa, to Lilongwe, Milawi, in a commercial jet. We then boarded a single engine Cessna for a flight to Mfuwe, Zambia.

Here we hopped on board our first of many open trucks and were driven to Mfuwe Lodge, just inside the South Luangua National Park. We appreciated the damp washcloths to remove the road dust and the refreshments, which we enjoyed while looking out over a riverbed filled with wildlife.

We boarded another open truck for the final leg of our trip, which brought us to the Kuyenda camp after dark. On both parts of this trip in the open trucks, we spotted lots of flora and fauna.
