We drove from Charles DeGaulle airport in Paris south towards Lake Annecy, where we will be spending five weeks. The weather was beautiful for this long trek. We drove around Paris at the height of rush hour, so our trip got off to a slow start. Once we got rolling, we got the little Kangoo up to 130 Km/Hr, which I would say was faster than it was designed to go. We stopped for lunch and our first taste of delicious French food at Auberge de La Beursaudiere in the tiny little town of Nitry. Pictures of the lovely clouds included. We cruised around Dijon for a while and decided not to stay, but to go to Besancon. We went a little out of our way and stayed overnight at the Hotel du Nord in Besancon. The first Saturday in August it is the busiest day of the year on the highways because every Frenchman is starting his August vacation on that day. We had planned to meet our agent in Veyrier du Lac, where we are staying the first week, at 1:00 pm., but we had a late start from Besancon and the miles of stop and go traffic delayed our arrival until about 4:00 pm.
