Kush was standing at the front of the car again. Soon, the train would be on the Center Street tracks, edging through the surprised cars like an ocean liner surrounded by goslings. He wanted to have a good view.

The driver's message box beeped. "That's funny," he said after a minute. "They want me to slow to a stop at the switch."

"What's that mean?" Donna asked.

"I think it means trouble."
